Brite Green help “Heir hunters” gain ISO 14001:2015 certification

Brite Green have helped probate genealogists Finders International achieve certification to the ISO 14001:2015 standard. Finders, who feature on BBC 1’s Heir Hunters series, help trace the next of kin where an heir to an estate isn’t immediately obvious.

The company already held ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications for their quality and information security management systems, and have had an environmental policy in place for some time. The probate genealogists are the first in their sector to achieve the prestigious ISO 14001 certification.

Danny Curran, Finder’s Managing Director told us that:

“Environmental considerations have always been an important part of our business. For example, we partner with World Land Trust to offset all our carbon emissions, and we have an environmental policy in place which set out our objectives publicly. Achieving ISO 14001 certification was the obvious next step for us to show our commitment to environmental stewardship”

EMS certification: good for business

Environmental considerations are important to a company like Finders. With offices in London, Edinburgh and Dublin, the company provide services across a large geographical area in a highly competitive market. Prioritising efficiency in business travel, resource use, and energy has helped keep costs down, and customers recognise the rigorous approach to quality and environmental management that ISO certification demonstrates. This has been particularly important for local authority contracts who often include questions on environmental management and CSR.

Brite Green’s support

The team at Finders asked Brite Green to take a hands-on approach to help them to develop their environmental management system. The process started with a gap analysis to understand where the company was already meeting the requirements of the standard and what new processes were needed.

The company already had some excellent environmental programmes in place, and so the Brite Green team worked directly with the office manager Tiina Rehunen to develop the processes to meet the ISO 14001:2015 requirements. As Finders already had a mature environmental programme in place, the development of the new management system was quick. The new system was fully in place within 3 months, including training for all members of staff.

Tiina Rehunen told us:

“It was great to work with Brite Green. They made the process very straight forward and really took the time to understand us and our business. Darren and his team gave us real confidence that the system would work for us and with their hands-on support, they made the audit process straightforward and enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend Brite Green to anyone looking for ISO support”

Brite Green’s Managing Partner, Darren Chadwick:

“I have worked with very few companies with such a strong passion for corporate responsibility, and the sophistication of Finders International’s management system reflects the quality of the management team and staff commitment. It has been a real delight to work with the team.”
