Thousands of estates left behind by Londoners are sitting in the government's care waiting to be claimed by the deceased's next of kin.

Founder and CEO Danny Curran “spends his days trawling through birth, death, and marriage records” to track down the heirs to unclaimed estates. It’s a £50m industry, and Curran’s firm is dominant, thanks to the show.

According to an online database, there are 54 estates in Essex that are currently sitting unclaimed with the Government.

There are more than 100 unclaimed estates in London according to a Government list which could be passed to the Crown forever of nobody comes forward to claim them.
